Expressing apologies that she can't accompany him to prom on his birthday, country music beauty Taylor Swift on Friday asked an 18-year-old student with cancer to be her date to the Academy of Country Music Awards in April.
Taylor Swift gets a chance to extend her reign as the Academy of Country Music's entertainer of the year, but she's competing with four-time winner Kenny Chesney and nominees Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton.
⢠Maybe the meal was good luck? Just a day before winning entertainer of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Taylor Swift dined at the Bellagio's Yellowtail restaurant. Joined by her mother and a few of her band members, the singer sat at an outdoor table - overlooking the casino's famed fountain show - and dined on sushi.
⢠Before winning album of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards,
Taylor Swift caused a stir at TAO Asian Bistro, where the starlet
dined with her mother, band and crew. The group arranged a special dinner at
the hot spot, and Swift, in a black dress and silver heels, enjoyed
signature items from the menu. She also met David Spade, who popped
over to say hi after dining nearby. Also dining at the restaurant while in
town for the weekend: Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves. (See more stars celebrating at the ACMs!)
Heidi Newfield goes into Sunday's Academy of Country Music Awards with five nominations. It's more than any other female, but she still considers herself the dark horse -- and in many ways, she is, especially since she's up for top female vocalist against such heavyweights as Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift.
Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, George Strait, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban are competing online for the Academy of Country Music's Entertainer of the Year. Fans can vote on www.voteACM.com or www.cbs.com/acma for any of the nominees through the last hour of the 44th Annual ACM Awards on April 5 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Each nominee is also scheduled to perform during the show. – Mike Fleeman
Miranda Lambert admits it: "Maintaining a healthy weight has always been a struggle." In 2005, when opening for country stars like Keith Urban, she found herself eating at the Waffle House every night. "I gained a lot of weight - really quickly!" she groans.
